Six types of sessions will be offered during FITP in addition to the keynote lectures.
| Lecture |
Lectures are generally one session long and have one or more presentors discussing a topic. These will often be accompanied by a powerpoint slideshow. The intent of these sessions is to provide an overview of the area being discussed. |
| Demonstration |
A demonstration will be one or more sessions in length. They will usually provide some background material followed by the presentor physically demonstrating the technology or action. Attendees will not try the technique temselves. |
| Workshop |
Like a demonstration a workshop will be one or more sessions long and will usually include the presentation of background material. Unlike a demonstration the focus of this type of session is to allow the attendee to practice the technology or action themselves. At least 50% of the length of the session will be dedicated to hands-on time. |
| Multi-paper Session |
These sessions will usualy consist of the presentation of 2 or 3 papers with a question and answer session. The papers will commonly be linked thematically. Copies of the papers may be made available to attendees electronically. |
| Single-paper Session |
A single paper will be covered in more depth during this session including a significant amount of time for discussion of the thesis during the question and answer period. |
| Panel Discussion |
In these sessions two to four presentors will have an open discussion on a topic under the control of the moderator. Questions are encouraged both during the session and sent in before the day. |
